Tony has been training in Shito Ryu Karate for 13 years and has held the rank of 4th Dan since November 2016.

I started karate late in life, I saw an advert in the local paper and just went along to give it a try and before long I was hooked and began to train a lot more with a goal of achieving a Black Belt.

After a long journey I finally achieved my Dan grade in 2006 and was told this was just the start of my karate training. My Sensei Ian Swain had put a lot of work into me into me achieving my goals and now I wanted to repay him by becoming an instructor at Sale Dojo by helping out in lessons and moving on to being able to take lessons.

I am now worked my way to become a coach of the Yanagi Kai Karate Squad which I love being a part of, I’m also a referee, currently an England Judge ‘B’ both in kata and Kumite.

Karate has changed my life, it has taken me to countries which I would have of never visited and places which I would never have seen. I’ve met like minded people from all over the world.

Karate has made me a better person it has given me more confidence and belief in myself!
