Kelly Horsfall

british15[2]Kelly Horsfall 3rd Dan – Kata Instructor

Kelly has been training in Shito Ryu Karate since 2005 and has held the rank of 3rd Dan since 6th November 2016.

I first started training at Prestwich Ken Yu Kai in Manchester under Sensei Chris Baker, as I progressed and improved my ability, I started to train at Sale Dojo. I then became a permanent member of the Ken Yu Kai squad which enabled me to compete at national and international level. In 2011 I decided to make a permanent move to Sale Dojo, as this would be more beneficial for my personal development and karateka.

Since then I have achieved multiple British and English Championship titles, including the Commonwealth Open Champion, Polish Grand Prix Champion and Scottish International Champion. I have represented the English National Squad at both Junior European Championships and Junior World Championships. My biggest achievement to date is becoming Senior Female English Individual Kumite Champion.

In the future I would like to give something back to karate as its been a huge positive influence in my life. I’ve recently been appointed Yanagi Kai Kata Squad coach where I endeavours to continue our long history of kata success.

Outside of karate I’m a student and Manchester Metropolitan University, studying Fashion Design and Technology, hopefully I can work hard and be successful in this industry.
